Reading README.HTM on the R2 ISO distribution is highly recommended prior to installation. Apparently, only evaluation versions of W2k3 (updated with SP1) are supported. This becomes clear only when the product key (issued upon successful registration for R2 download) gets rejected by the R2 Setup program.

Updated to provide XML support, this utility helps to determine MDAC installation status on a Windows machine. Versions supported range from MDAC 2.1 SP2 up to MDAC 2.8 SP1 (Win XP SP2) and MDAC 2.8 SP2 (W2k3 SP1). MDAC is typically installed together with various MS products. MSXML2.dll (current version = 3.0 SP4) is needed to run this version of Component Checker.
