Lync Server 2010 - Documentation Update (July 2011 Release)

In addition to updates to existing topics*, new technical reference documentation in the form of several Lync Server 2010 Resource Kit book chapters have been added in the July 2011 release of the must-have Lync Server 2010 Technical Library.

RTM - Lync Server 2010 Resource Kit

Finally the authoritative inside look at Lync Server 2010 (RK) direct from the source is here. Available for free download as a series of Word documents*, the journey to the final RTM release of Microsoft Lync Server 2010 Resource Kit (RK) has finally come to a successful conclusion. Check it out today!

Decommission / Uninstall Office Communications Server 2007 R2 (II)

One of the final steps you need to take in the migration from OCS 2007 R2 to Lync Server 2010 is to decommission the former. The process is largely the same as described in my last post* on a similar subject some time back. Since then, official Microsoft documentation has improved and included information covering this important aspect.

Starting off with the deactivation of Standard/Enterprise Edition OCS 2007 R2 service (or server roles) in the recommended sequence, you may encounter a similar error as shown here right at the beginning with the attempt to deactivate the Conferencing Attendant:

TechDays 2011 (Bern, Switzerland 20/21 Oct 2011)

TechDays 2011 (Bern, Switzerland 20/21 Oct 2011)Switzerland / Schweiz / Suisse  The super early bird registration is now opened for TechDays 2011, Switzerland. Taking place for the 8th time, the largest Swiss Microsoft Conference is scheduled in the fall / autumn at Kursaal, Bern (capital city). For the second time round this year*, the event is organized into 2 focused groups running on different days:

- Fri 21 Oct 2011 Developer

You are welcomed to attend both tracks or simply choose to take part in one of them. The actual conference agenda is planned for publication in September with key highlights and exciting developments from the new BUILD Windows Conference**.
