Troubleshooting OCS 2007 Event ID 7000, 1021
Jan 19th 2009Desmond LeeCommunications Server 2010 (Wave 14) / LCS/OCS 2007 R2/
You may encounter a series of error messages for OCS 2007 running in an Active Directory environment based on Windows Server 2003. This is attributed to the fact that passwords of the OCS 2007 domain service accounts have expired. The events are captured in the System log where other related ones will show up in the Office Communications Server log.
The reason this happens is because these special accounts are subject to the same Default Domain Policy just like ordinary accounts in the domain. By default, the service accounts RTCService and RTCComponentService affect the RtcSrv, RTCIMMCU, RTCDATAMCU and RTCAVMCU services (created during OCS setup process).
To overcome this show stopper, locate the 2 service accounts using Active Directory Users & Computers, reset the password and tick the Password Never Expires option (default not enabled). You should also modify the passwords for the service accounts that the NT services are dependent on for successful domain login. Tools like the services.msc or the Services and Applications / Services node in the computer management (compmgmt.msc) snap-in should do the job. It is a good idea to restart the OCS 2007 server and convince yourself that all is back to normal and works as expected.
A more detail look into this behavior can be found here.
