Update Rollup 2 for Exchange Server 2010 (KB979611)
Deploy this update (v14.0.689.0) to standalone or mailbox servers that are part of a database availability group (DAG). Backup any customized Logon.aspx or Outlook Web App files beforehand. In addition, this update should first be applied to internet-facing Client Access servers before the non-Internet-facing Client Access servers.

The order to apply the update rollup is not important for all other Exchange Server 2010 configurations. This cumulative update replaces KB976573 (Update Rollup 1 for Exchange Server 2010). Note that all interim updates for Exchange Server 2010 should be removed before applying this update rollup.

This manual step is essential if your organization’s security policy does not permit Internet browsing from your server machines (required when you click Help anywhere in Exchange Management Console).

Based on the Exchange Best Practices Analyzer (ExBPA) engine, this tool (ExPDA.MSI at v14.0.650.23) helps to assess the overall topology readiness of your environment, including updates and configuration of existing Exchange 2003/2007 servers that are required to support Exchange 2010. The Exchange Server Pre-Deployment Analyzer is a recommended step within the pre-requisites section of the Exchange Deployment Assistant.
