Fix: Cannot open RTCASMCU service (Lync Server 2010)
Jun 23rd 2011Desmond LeeLync Server 2013/2010, Lync for Mac/ OCS 2007 R2
As part of your daily standard operational procedure (SOP), you found that the ConferencingServer service on your Lync Front-End server pool is not running. When you attempt to start it via the Lync Server 2010 Control Panel, an error message is generated:
Start-CsWindowService: Command execution failed: Cannot open RTCASCCU service on computer ‘lync-frontend.swissitpro.com’.
The RTCASCCU in reality maps to the “Lync Server Application Sharing” service and is set to Automatic for a default installation. It is one of the many services that a Lync Conferencing server role depends on to function fully. Simply verify that it is running using the services.msc snap-in, refresh the Lync topology information, and you are back in business!
